O2 jobs announcement shows Ireland 'is open for business'
A hundred new jobs are being created by the mobile phone company O2 in Dublin.
Its parent company Telefonica is establishing a people services centre in the Docklands area.
It forms part of an investment worth more than €25m and Danuta Gray from Telefonica has said the jobs will come on stream over the next number of years.
The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O’Keeffe has said the move shows Ireland is open for business and winning major foreign direct investments.
Mr O’Keeffe said: "The announcement by the Taoiseach today is another significant vote of confidence in Ireland as a location for investments of strategic importance to our economic recovery.
"We have demonstrated yet again to the global investment community that Ireland continues to attract high-quality foreign direct investments in these difficult times for the world economy.
"As Ireland emerges from recession and returns to growth, these investments play a key role in rebuilding our confidence as a nation and proving to the world that Ireland is open for business."
