The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has said that if the Government had followed the policies advocated by them during the boom the current financial crisis could have been largely avoided.

In its submission to the inquiry into the Banking Crisis, ICTU is predicting that over the next few years Ireland will become a relatively high tax economy which it says was unnecessary and would not be the case had Government pursued more sustainable regulation.
