Mental health experts call for better resources
Mental health experts will sign a declaration today to improve resources for young people with mental health problems.
Around 90 international leaders in the field will gather in Killarney, Co Kerry for a summit on the issue.
They say mental health disorders are the single most prominent problem for young people and that, while services here are good, there are gaps that need to be filled.
Consultant adolescent psychiatrist at St Patricks University Hospital in Dublin, Dr Sarah Buckley, said that untreated problems can be very serious for young people, affecting all their relationships.
