Man missing after boat capsizes

A major search was being carried out off the North tonight after a man went missing when a boat capsized, police said.

Officers were assisting the Coastguard and the RNLI, who were alerted after a man in his 30s swam ashore before 4pm after a boat capsized at Mill Bay near Larne, Co Antrim.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment for hypothermia, but rescuers were searching for a second man thought to have been on board the vessel.

Police said the search of the surrounding sea and shoreline was continuing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
