Irish airports will remain open "until further notice" after the Icelandic ash cloud was blown out over the Atlantic Ocean, according to the Irish Aviation Authority.

Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus have said they are putting on extra capacity on a number of routes to tackle the backlog from two days of disruption.
