Broadcaster Gerry Ryan will be laid to rest following funeral mass in Clontarf in Dublin later this morning.

Gardaí are warning of traffic restrictions in the area given the crowds that are expected to turn out to pay their final respects to the broadcaster.

Almost a week on from his death, Gerry Ryan's family and friends will gather this morning to say their final goodbyes to the broadcaster.

The 53-year-old father of five died suddenly at his Leeson street apartment in Dublin city centre last Friday.

His funeral mass will take place at St John the Baptist Church on the Clontarf Road at 11.30am this morning.

Afterwards he will be laid to rest at the Dardistown Cemetery in North Dublin.

Given the crowds expected to turn out for the service, gardaí are warning of traffic restrictions between 11am and 1pm in the Clontarf and Cloghran areas.
