FG pensions motion expected to be defeated

A Fine Gael motion on removing pension entitlements for former Ministers is expected to be defeated in the Dáil later.

The debate on the motion began last night - one of the TD's holding on to his pension, Jim McDaid hit out a media coverage on the issue and said he gives his pension to a charity.

Fianna Fáil's Noel Treacy and Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher are the only other politicians holding onto the payment.

Speaking in the Dáil last night, the Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said the public debate so far has been "distasteful".
