Fire officer union calls for funding protection

The Chief Fire Officers Association wants local authority funding for fire services to be ringfenced in order to protect it from the economic downturn.

The Chief Fire Officers Association wants local authority funding for fire services to be ringfenced in order to protect it from the economic downturn.

The Association is holding its annual conference in Meelick, Co Clare today.

They are set to discuss the effect the downturn is having on services and will hear from speakers within emergency services in Europe and New Zealand.
