Regulator allows Quinn Insurance to recommence some UK business

The Financial Regulator is to allow Quinn Insurance to resume some private motor business in the UK and the North, it was announced this evening.

The move follows calls from both employees and the Joint Oireactas Committee on Enterprise, Trade & Employment.

"The Financial Regulator has today confirmed that, after careful consideration, it has amended its direction with regard to Quinn Insurance writing motor business insurance in the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland)," said a statement from the Regulator.

"This decision has been made following detailed discussions with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK and joint administrators of Quinn Insurance Limited and permits the re-opening of certain motor business lines of QIL UK."
