Probe into raid on postal van in Cavan

A Garda investigation is underway after a raid on a postal worker's van in Co Cavan.

Five masked men targeted the victim on the road near Belturbet at around 7.25am this morning.

They used a lorry to block the road and forced the worker to drive his van to a nearby laneway where they searched the vehicle.

Some time later they fled the scene.

Gardaí have recovered two burnt-out vehicles used by the gang in the operation. They are appealing for witnesses to contact them with any information at Ballyconnell Garda station.
