Former Labour leader Ruairí Quinn and Fine Gael's Bernard Allen have confirmed that they are to forego their ministerial pensions while continuing to sit in the Dáil.

In a statement issued this lunchtime, Deputy Quinn said that he had made the decision in light of the poor state of the public finances and the considerable hardship being caused to people across the country.
