Jury sent home in child abuse trial
A jury in the trial of a father accused of the abuse and neglect of his five children have been sent home for the weekend after failing to reach a verdict on the charges.
Earlier, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne told the jury that she was directing them to find the accused man not guilty of the sexual assault of his now 13-year-old son because “there was simply no evidence of any kind to support that charge”.
