Report: Revenue probes senior bank executives

Revenue authorities are reported to be taking a closer look at the tax affairs of 300 senior bank executives.

Files on 140 executives are currently being finalised, while 160 investigations are continuing into suspected tax evasion, the report in today's Irish Independent said.

Sources quoted by the paper said the probe was being carried out because tax chiefs had identified the area as a “high-risk industry”.

The operation has already clawed back €1.1m for the exchequer.
