Ash crisis prompts over 4,000 calls for assistance

The Department of Foreign Affairs received over 4,000 calls from Irish people stranded abroad during the volcanic ash crisis, it has been revealed.

A quarter of the calls related to medical assistance for people whose prescriptions had run out.
