Call for overhaul of organ donation system

The Cystic Fibrosis Association is calling for a complete overhaul of the organ donation system here.

The association's annual conference this weekend will also hear demands for improved hospital facilities and the appointment of two dedicated lung transplant surgeons.

In the past two years just two double lung transplants have been carried out in Ireland.

The CFAI wants the Government to take control of the organ donation registry and to campaign actively to get more people to sign up.
