All Aer Lingus flights to operate after 1pm

Airlines and maintenance organisations have agreed to new measures to ensure there is no threat to passenger safety as a result of the ash crisis.

The Irish Aviation Authority says it is satisfied that commercial air travel outside of the exclusion zone does not present a safety risk.

Three flights have now touched down in Dublin this morning, all from the US. There has also been one departure to Atlanta in the United States.

The first flight out of Cork Airport is due to depart at 1.20pm to Birmingham.

As business resumes, Aer Lingus has confirmed this morning that all of its flights after 1pm today, are scheduled to operate.

Meanwhile, the latest reports are that the volcano in Iceland is still erupting, but is producing much less ash.
