Pressure is continuing on the Government to intervene in the row over a pension for the Bank Of Ireland chief executive - despite the Taoiseach Brian Cowen insisting they can't.

It emerged at the weekend that the bank is 'topping up' Richie Boucher's pension by €1.5m so he can retire at the age of 55.
