Volcanic ash could persist 'until Friday'
Met Éireann is warning that it could be next Friday before the volcanic ash from Iceland clears out of the atmosphere.
The European aviation control agency says the ash from will continue to disrupt air traffic for at least the next 24 hours.
Eurocontrol says no landings or takeoffs have been possible for civilian aircraft in most of northern and central Europe.
It expects 6,000 flights to take to European skies today compared with the normal volume of 22,000.
