Garda Commissioner backs plan for greater jury protection

The Garda Commissioner says he supports any moves which would allow people to serve on juries without recrimination.

Fachtna Murphy says a recent major gangland case where some personal details of potential jurors were discovered in the home of an associate of the accused, is being fully investigated.

At its annual conference in Dublin today, the Association of Garda Superintendents has called for jury lists to be limited to the lawyers involved in a case, to avoid intimidation or threats.
