Elderly man dies after fire at farm

A man in his 70s has died after a fire at a Co Galway farmyard, it has been announced.

Gardaí says the blaze broke out in a shed near the man's house at Bodane, near Tuam at about 10.30pm last night.

Units from the fire brigade at Tuam and Ballinrobe fought the blaze, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem will be carried out later.
