TUI chief stands over rejection of Government deal

The head of the Teachers Union of Ireland is standing over the organisation's recommendation that its members reject the deal on pay and reform in the public sector.

The head of the Teachers Union of Ireland is standing over the organisation's recommendation that its members reject the deal on pay and reform in the public sector.

The TUI made the decision ahead of its annual conference in Clare next week.

General secretary Peter McMenamin says the union's recommendation is the correct one given the circumstances teachers are in.
