Two pedestrians have been killed on the country's roads overnight.

Their deaths bring to four the number of road fatalities this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are appealing for witnesses after a 67-year-old man was struck by a car in Julianstown at 10.30pm last night.

The man was taken to St Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A short time later a 23-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car at Glynn in Co Wexford at around 2am this morning.

The scene of collision remains closed for a technical examination and traffic diversions are in place.

Their deaths bring to four the number of fatalities on the country's roads this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
