The Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has said the party will table a motion in the Dáil next week calling for the abolition of the Government's €10 travel tax.

Mr Kenny - who was speaking during his opening address at the Fine Gael national convention - said the tax has done damage to the tourism industry.

Up to 2,000 Fine Gael delegates have gathered in Killarney for the two-day event which got underway this evening.

Mr Kenny said the travel tax idea was "yet another mistake by the Government".
