Gardaí to charge or release Sean Fitzpatrick shortly
Gardaí have soon to release or charge the former Chairman of Anglo Irish Bank.
Séan Fitzpatrick was arrested at his home in Greystones in Co Wicklow yesterday morning by members of the Fraud Squad investigating allegations of financial irregularities.
At 6.20am yesterday, gardaí from the Bureau of Fraud Investigation arrived at Sean Fitzpatrick's home in Greystones.
They arrested the former Chair of Anglo Irish Bank and brought him to Bray garda station for questioning, where's he has now been for more than 24 hours.
His period of detention was due to end at 6.30am today, but questioning was suspended overnight to allow Mr Fizpatrick sleep and only resumed at 8am.
It means that gardaí have until this lunchtime to decide whether to release or charge the former banker.
For the large media gathering who have been camped outside Bray garda station since early yesterday morning, the wait continues.
