Aer Lingus and IMPACT talk to LRC
Aer Lingus' radical cost-cutting plan is under the spotlight again this morning as representatives from the airline and IMPACT enter separate talks at the Labour Relations Commission.
The union, which represents cabin crew, is keen to renegotiate proposals by the former flag carrier which would see 1,200 cabin crew fired and rehired on lower pay and conditions.
However, Aer Lingus bosses have said the discussions do not mean it is reopening negotiations on its cost-cutting plan.
IMPACT Spokesperson Niall Shanahan said that the union was entering talks on a pragmatic basis in the hope that an acceptable outcome can be reached.
