Taxi drivers to stage work stoppage

Taxi drivers across the country are expected to stage a three-hour work stoppage from noon, to call for a moratorium on new licences being issued.

Airports, train and bus stations are being targetted, while a "slow protest" is also planned through a number of cities.

The Irish Taxi Council - which is behind the protest - is also demanding an improvement in standards for new applicants.
