Bertie still a big earner

It appears there's life after being Taoiseach.

According to the register of interests, Bertie Ahern has three private sources of income on top of his TD's salary, which itself is worth over €98,000.

Last year alone, in his capacity as a speaker for the US-based Washington Speakers Bureau, he flew to the USA, Nigeria, Spain and Honduras, to make speeches.

His minimum speaking fee according to the agency's website is €29,000.

He also works as a sports columunist for the News of the World and is earning income from the publication of his autobiography.
