Viaduct collapse report released
Iarnród Eireann has released details of a report into an incident on their track at the Malahide Estuary in north Co Dublin last summer.
Catastrophe was averted during evening rush hour on August 21 last when a train driver spotted that the track ahead across the viaduct had been washed away.
The report made a number of findings and the company is taking action as a result, including the installation of a bridge monitoring system on the Malahide viaduct.
The company has rejected newspaper claims today that it had been warned in 2006 about erosion on the line.
