Efforts are continuing to have Limerick city's pubs opened on Good Friday for rugby fans.

All alcohol is prohibited from being sold on Good Friday making it a controversial decision to schedule Munster's clash with Leinster on the day.

Mayor Kevin Kiely is backing the vintners application to the city’s District Court for a special exemption to allow them to open between 7pm and midnight.

Munster rugby games at Thomond Park are usually worth more than €10m to the city.
