The controversial issue of the new 30 kilometre speed limit in Dublin city centre will be debated later by the city council.

Motorists and businesses in the city have described the limit as "ridiculous".

However, Dublin City Council has said it increases road safety.

Fine Gael Councillor Bill Tormey is raising the issue at a council meeting tonight and he said it has to go back to public consultation.
