De Burca rejects claims she never raised Docklands report with Gormley

Former Green Party Senator Deirdre DeBurca has revealed the details of an email to the Environment Minister John Gormley about a controversial report into the Dublin Docklands Development Authority.

Yesterday, the newly resigned Senator accused Minister Gormley of delaying publication of the report into malpractice at the DDDA because it would make uncomfortable reading for Fianna Fáil.

Minister Gormley said he will publish the report after advice from the Attorney General and said Ms de Burca never raised the issue with him.

However, Ms de Burca has rejected this claim and released a copy of an email raising concers about the DDDA and sent to Gormley's private email address in August 2008.

Green Chairman Dan Boyle however said he doesn't believe the report will have implications for the Taoiseach, who was Finance Minister at the time.

"My understanding is that this is a report about the internal governance of the Dublin Docklands Authorithy, and the issues that arise and the recommendations apply only to them" Senator Boyle said.

"I think the role of any Minister for Finance, regardless of who they are, is done on the basis of the advice that they receive from their departmental officials.

"I'm not aware of any issues and I am not anticipating any issues in that area."
