A murder investigation is underway in Limerick following the fatal shooting of a delivery man at a petrol station this morning.

A murder investigation is underway in Limerick following the fatal shooting of a delivery man at a petrol station this morning.

The 35-year-old was gunned down at the Topaz station on the Ennis Road at around 6.30am.

It is understood he was approached by a lone gunman who shot him before making his getaway in a red Toyota Corolla car.

The victim is understood to be from Limerick.

The shop had just opened when the shooting occurred, and staff were present on the premises. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
