CAB to sell off West Cork drugs catamaran
The Criminal Assets Bureau is to auction off a catamaran used by a British criminal gang to try to smuggle €440m worth of cocaine into West Cork.
The Lucky Day will go under the hammer at auction next month, along with two rigid inflatable boats, four outboard engines, two trailers and three Landrovers.
The catamaran, which was used to bring 1.5 million tonnes of cocaine across the Atlantic, has two forward state rooms, one in each hull and eight berths in all.
The auction will be held on March 23.
It comes as a member of the gang, John Gary Edney, is on trial in London for his part in the drugs-smuggling operation.
