SR Technics workers plan protest over Ryanair jobs loss

Former workers at SR Technics are to hold a protest next week over the Government's failure to secure a deal for 300 maintenance jobs at Dublin Airport.

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary met Tánaiste Mary Coughlan yesterday evening in a bid to keep the jobs here.

He wants to buy or lease the airport's hangar 6 for the aircraft maintenance operation, but it is currently occupied by Aer Lingus. The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said it would be illegal to try to break the Aer Lingus lease.

Former SR Technics worker John Devane said the protest would take place at 11am in Dublin' Garden of Remembrance.
