Green Isle workers to go on hunger strike

Workers at the Green Isle plant in Co. Kildare, who have been engaging in a strike for the last six months, are expected to begin a hunger strike tomorrow.

It is in protest at what unions claim is the continued refusal by the company to accept Labour Court recommendations for the settlement of the row over the dismissal of union members.

One of the union's shop stewards will begin the hunger strike tomorrow and it is warning that others will join in as the strike continues.
