A wreath will be laid at the Stardust Memorial Park in Dublin today in honour of the victims of the 1981 nightclub fire in Artane.

It will follow an anniversary mass in Coolock during which the names of the 48 young people who died in the blaze will be read out.

Last year the Stardust Victims Committee won a 28-year battle to have an independent examination into the cause of the inferno.

It rejected the findings of an earlier inquiry that the fire was probably a result of arson.
