Taxi drivers slam Dublin 30kph speed-limit move

The Irish Taxi Drivers Federation has described as "stupid" and "ridiculous" the new 30kph speed limit in Dublin City Centre.

The limit came into effect this morning in areas around the city, from Bolton Street on the northside to St Stephen's Green on the southside.

Road safety chiefs say the move will make our roads safer and save lives.

President of the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation John Usher hit back by saying the change had not been properly thought out and that "rickshaws will be passing out taxis" as a result.
