SIPTU claims up 70 jobs in Meadow Meats in Co Laois are under threat.

The trade union says the company is threatening to shut down the plant unless the workforce accepts a pay cut to just above the minimum wage.

Last Summer, boning and packaging operations at Rathdowney were transferred to South Kilkenny.

Meadow Meats is owned by the Dawn Group.
