Hanafin: Oireachtas inquiry into banking 'would not be fair'
A senior Government minister has said it is not possible to have a fair, objective banking inquiry through the Oireachtas.
A Commission of Inquiry is to investigate what led to the banking crisis.
Its terms of reference will be decided in the Dáil following a detailed report on the crisis from the Governor of the Central Bank.
Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin said the Government "had to choose between a 'witch-hunt' or an inquiry that gets results".
