Supplies have been restored to nearly 5,000 homes on the north side of Cork City.

However, the Environment Minister John Gormely has reiterated his call to people to conserve water, despite the drop in demand.

Up to 50,000 homes were without water for over a week when the River Lee burst its banks in November.

Speaking to RedFM Cork's City Manager Joe Gavin says the water outages were a direct result of unprecedented weather conditions.
