Galway man faces additional 185 charges

A court has heard how a Galway man, who has already been charged with cruelty, rape and neglect of his children, now faces an additional 185 charges.

A court has heard how a Galway man, who has already been charged with cruelty, rape and neglect of his children, now faces an additional 185 charges.

The 48-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Athenry District Court today.

In December the man was charged with raping four of his daughters and neglect and cruelty towards a son between1997 and April of last year.

Earlier today the man was charged with an additional 185 charges.

He made no reply except to the final charge when he replied: "I didn't do any of it".

A second application for bail was made but denied by Judge Joseph Mangan.

He remanded the man in custody to appear before Harristown District Court this Friday.

His wife faces a total of 18 charges of cruelty and neglect of her children

She was remanded in custody to appear before Ennis District Court on January 22.
