Govt give councils another €16.5m for flood clean-up
Another €16.5m has been allocated to local authorities towards the cost of the clean-up operation following record flooding.
Environment Minister John Gormley said councils received the payments last week.
He has issued a statement paying tribute to the efforts of the rapid response of local authorities and their staff.
But the Cork County Mayor Derry Canty said his allocation of €5.7m is welcome, but much more help will be needed.
