Rail disruption on east coast after crash at Merrion Gates

Dart and rail passengers along the east coast are facing severe disruption for much of today.

It follows an incident involving a truck at the Merrion Gates which tore away a section of the overhead line.

Dart services between Lansdowne Road and Dun Laoghaire have been disrupted, while the 12.05 train between Dublin and Gorey has been cancelled.

Irish Rail spokesman Barry Kenny said extensive damage has been caused to the line.
