Crime Victims Helpline urges caution over festive season
The National Crime Victims Helpline is reminding people that it is open over the festive season.
It is urging people to be vigilant especially in light of the new trend of shoulder surfing where criminals detect card numbers at ATMs and then steal cash.
Co-ordinator of the Helpline Meave Ryan said Christmas also usually sees a rise in assaults, muggings and break-ins.
She said people should also take care when they're out socialising.
