Gardaí urging care on roads

Gardaí will be out in force over the Christmas period and they are urging motorists to take care and slow down.

Checkpoints will be mounted across the country over the festive season in a bid to reduce the number of fatalities on our roads.

Two hundred and thirty-seven people have been killed in crashes so far this year.

Assistant Commissioner in the traffic division Kevin Ludlow has urged those enjoying the festivities to make arrangements to get home safely.
