Group calls for mandatory daytime lights for cars

On the shortest day of the year motorists are being called on to keep their belts and their lights on.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is calling on the Government to fast track legislation to make daytime running lights mandatory on all new vehicles.

The organisation, with over 30,000 members in 30 countries, is the professional body for those involved in transport logistics.

CILT President Paul Mallee said that lives will be saved if daytime lights are introduced.
