Drivers are being warned they face the full rigours of the law if they engage in dangerous driving this Christmas.

Drivers are being warned they face the full rigours of the law if they engage in dangerous driving this Christmas.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for safe driving and are focusing their efforts of stopping drink driving, speeding and people who don't wear seatbelts.

Assistant Commissioner of Traffic Kevin Ludlow said that while the number of road deaths are falling, one death is too many.

He's warning drivers not to speed or drink drive.

"If they do engage in this type of activity our enforcement approach will ensure that a vast amount of them will be caught and face either penalty points or the courts," he said.
