FF pick Mooney for Seanad by-election

Fianna Fáil has selected former senator Paschal Mooney as its candidate for the forthcoming Seanad by-election.

The decision was taken following a meeting of the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party this evening.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen said Mr Mooney was being selected as a reward for his work during the European Elections, in which he helped secure a seat for Pat the Cope Gallagher in the North-West.
