Grealish set for meeting with Taoiseach on Budget

Former Progressive Democrat TD Noel Grealish is to meet the Taoiseach today in an effort by the Government to secure his support for the Budget.

Government Chief Whip Pat Carey has expressed confidence that independents including Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry will back the Budget tomorrow.

A meeting is due to take place with South Kerry Deputy Jackie Healy Rae on the issue later.

The three FF backbenchers who have resigned the whip - Jimmy Devins, Eamonn Scanlon and Jim McDaid are also reported to be ready to lend their support tomorrow.
