More flooding expected in Cork
Cork city is bracing itself for further flooding today from a combination of increased tide levels, strong winds and heavy rain.
The low-lying areas of the city centre are particularly at risk at high tide, which is expected at 7.40pm.
Meanwhile President Mary McAleese will visit Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim his afternoon to meet people affected by the recent flooding.
She will be thanking volunteers and members of State agencies who are helping with the on-going clean up.
The Government is expected to apply for EU funding in January to help cover the cost of flooding damage.
MEPs say Ireland could claim up to €50m from the EU Solidarity Fund, if the damage caused exceeds €1bn.
